"Ruby by day and Emerald by night" has been used to describe this gemstone, natural or man-made.  Red-violet to blue-violet in the daylight, and in candle or incandescant light, it turns a teal-blue- green.  Alexandrite by nature is an amazing color change gemstone, these gems undergo a dramatic color change in different types of light.  Lab grown or created man-made alexandrite, like natural alexandrite, is a member of the chrysoberyl family which has the chemical composition beryllium aluminum oxide.(BeAl2O4). 

  Natural alexandrite is so rare that few people have ever seen one, and its value is on a par with emeralds,

rubies, and sapphires.  It has been described as "distinct and magical" by European royalty, and is one of

the rarest and highly priced gemstones in the world.In addition to pearl, Alexandrite is actually June's natural
