"Silver Snowflake"

Silvery, swirly, icy white topaz tension set into twisted sterling silver rope wire.
These two views are actually the same piece, just photographed on different backgrounds.
"Tension setting" is a term I came up with for the way the stone is secured into the setting.
To date, I have not seen anyone else setting in this way. If you know of a brave soul who
has tried this, let me know, I'd like to hear how they got their stone to hold still the first couple of times....
Rather than trying to find a pre-cast prong setting for the very large, and/or unusual cuts that I love
to work with,I have devised this method of setting the gems into their permanent homes.
The first time I tried this, it took the better part of a day.....
Further attempts proved fruitful, and I got better at it. Which just goes to show ya',

This specialty snowflake cut jewel of crystal clear white topaz weighs in at 11.65 carats and measures 16 by 16 millimeters across.
The entire piece including the setting measures just over an inch across and about an inch +1/4 from top to bottom.
18" 3.2mm sterling silver chain with lobster clasp closure is included.
